Jon here, founder at Carson.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for us. As some of you may already know, under the Carson eCommerce brand we operated HeyCarson.com and Storetasker.com
This week we finalized the sale of the Storetasker business to another amazing group, Lorem. Read the announcement here.
These two services seem similar to many, but each has unique offerings that cater to the larger Shopify community.
Carson: Shopify service company with internal experts, for small development and design tasks only.
Carson serves Shopify merchants who need small tweaks (less than 1-2 hours of dev or design expertise). Merchants can buy single small tasks for $99/each or there’s a subscription option for $299/month, where merchants can get many tasks completed. The deep value for merchants is in our subscription offer. All the experts are on staff, working for Carson full-time. Keeping our service tightly knit around small tasks, means we don’t cover larger projects.
Storetakser: Shopify outsourcing platform with freelancers for bigger design, development and marketing projects.
Storetasker serves merchants with larger requests. There is no subscription offer. Project requests are submitted and picked up by an available, vetted, freelancer. The Storetasker platform is a safe, trusted area that ensures merchant projects get delivered successfully.
For the last few years, we have built up both businesses in parallel. While fun, it also presented some challenges, specifically from leadership and focus perspective. What we realized is that you can be good at two things, but great at neither.
With Storetasker now safely in the hands of Lorem, our internal Carson team will shift attention fully to the Carson service and platform. Our priority is to drastically improve our customer experience and add more value – all in the goal of helping you incrementally improve and grow your Shopify store. We will also continue to have a close partnership with the new Storetasker team.
This is an extremely exciting change for us, as we are now solely focused on Carson and our customers (you)! We will introduce new initiatives within our Carsondash and re-invest heavily, starting with a completely fresh dashboard experience, launching in January 2020.
In brief, this acquisition will allow us to keep giving you better service and better business-building features in the Carson experience.
If you have used both services over the past few years, we’re very grateful. If you’ve found that one worked better for you than the other, that was also a desired outcome.
Keep your eyes on our Facebook group – we will be sharing updates there. For now, I’m sure you have your hands full with BFCM efforts.
PS: If you haven’t been back into our Carsondash recently, sign in or sign up for a free account.
